Steve Evans

Over the weekend of 8/9 Jan many people asked how Steve was, so here is an update.

I visted Steve in the Royal Free Hospital today and he is in remarkably good spirits. He had a major operation on his left foot yesterday which involved amputation of all the toes on his left foot except for a small portion of his big toe.

The surgeons are pleased with how the operation went. Steve now has to see the Plastic surgeons today or tomorrow and he will have another operation at the end of the week to allow them to (a) see how the area is healing and (b) to allow them to do their part of the operation.

The hope is that these two operations will do all that is necessary and that the wounds will heal.

If this does not happen then further operations may be necessary. As requested by many of you I gave him your best wishes and he thanked you all.

I'm sure our thoughts will be with him and Mandy over the coming weeks. For someone who has gone through a serious, life changing, accident he is remarkably upbeat and looks forward to getting back to Harpenden, his home and his friends as soon as possible.

He is in the Royal Free and I am sure he would appreciate any visitors. Visiting hours are between 2pm and 7pm.
