2012 HRFC Mini’s Tour

The 2012 Tour is going to be (we hope!) an absolutely wonderful weekend of fun, activities and good rugby for both players and parents. We hope to be able to take a minimum of 2 teams per Age Group where possible and this will mean that we have 200 people on tour which we believe will be a first for the Club. The tour will also be taking place one week before the County Festival so will be the perfect opportunity for both the A and B team's potential County Festival sides to play together and get some ideal practise in one week before taking on the best teams in Hertfordshire. With this in mind we have entered the highly prestigious - and competitive - Bournemouth Mini Festival and we would hope to be able to repeat coming away with some silverware as the Club did in 2011.
 
We are also very keen for new tourists across all age groups to strongly consider coming on tour for the first time. These weekends away are a great opportunity for both the boys and parents to spend some time with those that they normally may only spend a few hours either playing rugby with or standing watching rugby on a Sunday morning. Please do ask other players and parents who have been on previous tours and they will let you know how much fun all age groups can have.

So here is the planned schedule for the weekend
 
Friday 13th April 2012
 
Coaches leave Harpenden RFC with main party leaving at around 1pm and one coach leaving later at 5pm

Cross from Portsmouth to Fishbourne - IofW

 

Activities for the kids when they arrive and evening meal for all

 

Saturday 14th April 2012

 

Morning - Activities for kids by age group - Parents may be able to join in if they desire

 

Afternoon/Evening - Training session and BBQ at local RFC

 

Evening    - Return to base

 

Sunday 15th April

 

Morning - Leave for Bournemouth Mini Festival via Yarmouth to Lymington ferry

 

Afternoon - Bournemouth Mini Festival 

 

Evening   - Return to Harpenden RFC approx 8pm (will depend on success of our teams)

 

Tour Fundraising

We anticipate on organising a number of raffles, and other events in the lead up to the tour. This will include a Quiz Night and hopefully a Race Night. Even if you are not coming on tour, please ensure that you come along and support these events, as it ensures that we keep the cost of the tour to a minimum.

Cost

 

We are naturally working very hard to try and keep costs as low as possible and are currently working on sponsorship ideas and fund raising schemes but as an early ESTIMATE we would envisage costs to be £150 per person which will cover transport, accommodation, food, tour rugby shirt for players, tour polo/rugby shirt for parents will be available at an extra charge. We need to confirm numbers with the Activity Centre therefore we require a deposit today of £75 per person attending the tour.

 

If you believe that your child will not be able to participate in the tour due to hardship, please contact either Rupert (Tour Chairman) or Andy Barford (HRFC  Mini’s Chairman) minis@hrfc.com to discuss in total privacy.


So please do strongly consider coming on this trip with one or more of your children. Not only will you be supporting your rugby Club but almost certainly ensuring that both you and your child have a weekend of great fun!
