England call for Loughborough students
The Rugby Football Union has invited five Loughborough students to attend a two-day England Students training camp where the squad for the 2008 campaign will be decided.
Matt Cross (hooker, BSc Sport and Exercise Science), Ian Kench (second row, Geography), Simon Pitfield (second row, BSc Sport and Exercise Science), Giles Prior (outside centre, Architectural Engineering and Design Management) and Andy Wright (winger, MSc Marketing) progressed through a two-stage trial to be named in the 40-man training squad that meets at Broadstreet RFC this week (23-24 January).
Following the camp, the final 36-strong England Students squad will be named for matches against France Students, Scotland Universities, Irish Colleges and the Combined Services in February and March.
A total of 16 players from Loughborough's squad were invited to the first round of the trials with 10 of those making it to the second stages.
For an excellent meal prior to a home game.
