For some time our changing facilities have not been adequate for the requirements of a growing rugby club. Particularly when it comes to hosting our womens' and girls' teams.
Work has just started on improving these facilities, which is 2 weeks earlier than planned, with a target completion date of the end of August.
Changing rooms 1 & 2 are being made into self contained units, each having 6 showers and a toilet added to them, this means the physio room which is currently adjacent to changing room 1 will moves to the back of changing room 3.
As we are adding in new showers in the two changing rooms, we are able to halve the current shower block. This space will then be converted into much needed storage space to support or busy kitchen and bar upstairs and free up space for the addition of an easy access toilet next summer.
Once completed we will have significantly improved facilities which enable us to accommodate a combination of male, female and age grade teams, most importantly though it will mean that our female players have toilet facilities that are accessible when using the change rooms.
Phase 2 which is the upgrade of the downstairs toilet block, to gender neutral cubicles, and the installation of the easy access toilet will be carried out next summer. Following on from that we're working towards a summer 2025 project of further facilities in the building currently occupied by the squash club.
All of this will naturally cause some disruption but will absolutely be worth it once completed!
