With spring just around the corner and Harpenden RFC are inviting any female’s connected to the club to come down and give rugby a go.

Everyone is more than happy to answer any of my many questions. Joining the team is definitely one of my highlights of 2022
- Leanne

Tell everyone you know about the women and girl teams at Harpenden RFC.
Encourage your friends and family to come down to the club and give rugby a go.
Get involved yourself….. we’d love for you to come and give the sport a try!

The Women and Girls section, is at a crucial growth phase were we want to introduction the game to as many girls and women as possible. With the growth in the game over the next 10 years from England hosting the next Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2025 and the 10 year professional strategy for the domestic women’s league this is the right time to get into the sport.

The women and girls section offers rugby for females from 10+ years old. This year we saw the introduction of a new age grade system with girls U12, U14, U16 and U18 teams and have welcomed girls of all ages to the club both new and returning players. Our senior women’s team have also grown in numbers and there has been lots of fun from senior women’s social events across the year.

We thought it was important to share a special story of Leanne, a mother of a child playing in the mini & junior section. Leanne had never played rugby before and wanted to share her experience for others to see that it is not as scary as you may think.

‘I joined Harpenden Women after watching them with my son, after one of his training sessions and thinking that it looked a lot of fun as well as being great for my fitness! All the player and coaches were extremely welcoming, I was quite nervous, as starting to play rugby as a 40 year old is not the norm but I can not fault the knowledge of the girls and the coaches. Everyone is more than happy to answer any of my many questions. Joining the team is definitely one of my highlights if 2022’ – Leanne
