Following on from the ongoing success of the Academy’s season after reaching the last 16 of the National Cup and semi final (so far!) of the county tournament. Three players; Sam McLoughlin, Johnny Chalkley and Alex Osborn have all gone on to make debuts for the 1st XV.
In the 2nd and 3rd XV a hatful of players have also made their senior debuts. Harvey Dennis, James Leslie, Jack Musselle, Alex Van Weezel, Sam Lea, Greg Kelly, Harvey Welch and Cormac O'Halloran.
The progression is not just restricted to our men's teams our women's side has also handed the opportunity to under 18 players to make their bow for the senior team with the following players having featured Philippa Grant, Megan Hill, Freya Rymill & Marci Lane.
Both the men's and women's sides have regularly lined up with over 10 players in their squads who have come through the ranks at HRFC. A testament to the work that has been put in by all of the volunteer coaches throughout the club to nurture talent at every level.
Away from the familiarity of Redbourn Lane, graduates of our Mini and Junior section have also featured in the upper echelons of the game recently. With Max Eke representing England U18s vs France a fortnight ago. Whilst in the Premier 15s, Elizabeth Shermer has been starring for Worcester Warriors and Izzy Winter for Loughborough Lightening.
All the enthusiasm seen across the age groups would suggest this rich vein of talent will continue!
